Thank you for your interest in supporting our community by volunteering. Below are the current volunteer opportunities along with instructions on how to volunteer for them. 

Edmonton Toy Run - September 21, 2025

The Edmonton Toy Run has been making a difference in the lives of children since 1984. Traditionally two radio groups, NARC and the Sherwood Park Radio Club (SPRC), have suported this event with NARC providing coverage along the route and SPRC managing the pre race staging area. At this time, it seems only SPRC is engaged and will be providing assistance at the staging area (Blackjacks Roadhouse in Nisku).

The route starts at Blackjacks Roadhouse in Nisku with riders arriving between 9:00AM and 10:45AM. Santa then leads the ride to the Edmonton Inn and Conference Centre on Kingsway at 11:00AM. It's an impressive (and loud) drone as hundreds for motorcycles, trikes, etc. leave the staging area.

JOTA - Jamboree On The Air - October 18, 2025

Scouts Jamboree On The Air (JOTA) is Saturday October 18th from 09:00 to 16:00 at the Devon Lion's Campground on River Valley Road. There will also be a group at the VE6HM site. 

In Devon we will be set up in and around the gazebo. And expect to show the fun aspects of Ham Radio to around 100 Scouts from the Greater Edmonton Area. (map)

Typically we set up an HF station, have 2m HT's on hand, demonstrate Fox Hunting skills, and set up a WSPR station.

This year I would like to have people at the HM site to make contacts with on HF, VHF or UHF (whatever mode we can get to work).  I would also like to have a Digital Station setup in Devon to increase our chance of making contacts with other Scout Groups internationally.

There may also be a need for help with setup and take down.
