Due to low usage and a lack of modern implementations, we will be discontinuing support for IRLP with the introduction of our new analog repeater system in the coming weeks. Once this happens, no IRLP links (connections made with star (*), then the node number) will be possible to or from the VE6HM repeater network. We will continue to support EchoLink (connections made with the node number and then pound (#)) and are investigating AllStarLink and Hamshack Hotline support.
With our new repeater controllers based on Raspberry Pi single-board computers, we can directly integrate EchoLink to provide high-quality audio and a more reliable user experience for the VE6HM repeater network. The current owner of IRLP has repeatedly made clear that any attempts to integrate IRLP software into any modern infrastructure will result in a permanent ban from the IRLP network. This forces us to abandon IRLP in order to provide a good experience on the VE6HM repeater system.
Since the Trans-Canada IRLP net is conducted via the SARA system, members can still participate in this net through our link to SARA.
Usage of IRLP from VE6HM is quite low, comprising only 4% of internet linking activity in the last 6 months, so we do not anticipate this to negatively impact most users. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. If you have any remaining questions, please contact us.
VE6HM-R EchoLink Node Number = 51068
Connect to an EchoLink station = Dial 4-6 digit EL number then POUND (#).
Disconnect any call = Dial #
